Pentax K10D Design
The K10D is stepping away from tradition and creates better and smaller cameras. The K10D is the biggest and also the heaviest model so far but has great features.
The camera measures 142x101x70mm, and it is about the same size as Nikon D80.
One of the nicest things about the K10D is the fact that it has a metal body with a nice plastic shell that is very robust.
It may not have magnesium alloy in the body like Canon EOS 30D does but it has physical status. It has weather resistant seals and dust sensor. It can take down any mi-range DSLRs even to the semi-pro level. Without the batteries, the model has 710g, a bit heavier than Nikon D80 but the same weight as Canon EOS 30D. Plus, even if it does not have the finger grip feature like Nikon, it can really allow you to hold it secure. It offers a firm grip.
There is also a small grip on the opposite side of the body, for the left finger tips. You are able to adjust the many levels, however you want. You will be impressed by the DA 40mm and DA 70mm limited models that are coming soon.
Just like other semi-pro models, the K10D’s main command is on upper left side and has: Manual, Auto, Program, Aperture and Shutter Priority modes, besides the additional flash sync Bulb and User positions. You can easily switch between one and another by rotating.
The command dial of the model is different from others as it offers a lot of sensitivity and combines the Aperture and shutter priority modes. Sv, the Sensitivity Priority allows you to select the ISO setting you want. The program is easily adjustable.
All these features make K10D one of the nicest semi-pro cameras out there.
